With over a decade of experience in financial journalism with major news publications, I specialise in spotting data trends, breaking news, and investigative reporting. I often combine my data literacy and visualisation skills to tell a story. I have experience using R for data sourcing, web scraping, cleaning, and analysis. I've worked extensively with spreadsheets, and created visualisations with Datawrapper and Flourish. I have also mastered the art of scooping out data :)

Business Standard's budget coverage of 2020
As a member of the data team at Business Standard, I contributed to planning, creating, and visualising the 2020 budget edition. We chose economic slowdown as the central theme for our graphics, preparing the data stories days ahead of the budget speech.
Unemployment rate at four-decade high of 6.1% in 2017-18
Using my investigative skills, I sourced data suppressed by the Indian government, revealing that India's unemployment rate reached a 45-year high in 2018. I then wrote a series of stories based on this data, incorporating my own calculations to analyse the trends.
Consumer spending sees first fall in 4 decades on weak rural demand
After receiving a suppressed official report from a whistleblower, I used my data skills to calculate changes in India's consumer spending by applying an inflation deflator. Data pointed to a slump in consumer spending first time in four decades. Following my report, the government junked the data.
New tenants feel the rent inflation pinch
Amid criticism of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for underestimating inflation for renters, I obtained exclusive official data for the L.A. Times, revealing how annual rental costs for new tenants surged in 2022. BLS has now started regularly releasing this data.
